Ethical Duties
Kindergarten teachers are some of the most important teachers children will ever meet during their
academic careers. These teachers build a firm foundation for future learning. Students’ opinions
and perceptions of school are shaped by what they experience during their first years of school. A
kindergarten teacher must serve as educator, surrogate parent and psychologist in order to mold
students who are well-adjusted and eager to learn.

Professional Duties
Kindergarten teachers teach the basic academic skills in English Language arts, math, science,
and social studies. This includes building the foundation for mastery in these subjects as the
transition through the educational process. Students in kindergarten are also expected to learn
social skills, humanities (study of Art, music, dance, and drama), and STEM related education.
Professional Responsibilities
Teachers will plan lessons according to the international curriculum, and approved standards while
formally and informally assessing students, and differentiate instruction based upon real data
regarding student needs.
Teachers are expected to lead students through creative play and hands-on activities. Teachers
are expected to keep real time data on student performance, participate in all parent-teacher
conferences (Teacher contracts will specify exact duties as they pertain to specific individuals).
Professional Expectations
Teachers will be expected to participate in large school events, communicate regularly with parents
(not just providing weekly progress), and work collegial as a team to meet school objectives and
student mastery, as expected in the American school. Furthermore, all teachers will be officially
evaluated twice each year, and
will receive professional training and support throughout the year. Teachers will be responsible to
participate in monthly webinars with the Consortium (Curriculum writers) to help drive their work
based upon your teaching experiences. This will be vital to their work, as curriculum is developed
for the Chinese classroom. Teachers will be expected to participate in any and all professional
training provided by the Vice-Principal.
Experience
• Prefer but not required - minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
• Working knowledge of principles, theories, methods, techniques and strategies pertaining to
teaching
and learning.
• Demonstrate understanding of classroom management strategies, techniques and methods, and
conflict resolution procedures.
• Demonstrate ability to write effective, engaging, rigorous, and high yield lesson plans based on
the
approved curriculum provided.
• Proficiency in selection and utilization of appropriate educational materials, supplies, equipment,
technology and learning aids.
• Proficiency in conducting a comprehensive teaching and instruction program.
• Demonstrated understanding of child growth and development principles and theories.
Schedule
The daily teaching schedule for two teachers is 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday; which
includes lunch and planning. The third teacher will teach 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Wednesday – Friday
and 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday.

1. Working Hours: Monday to Friday on a semester basis;
