I have read this many times (10+) on other forums and some have been turned away and some have been accepted. I would think they may be looking at how long ago the incident occurred. Keep the hope alive because it is possible, just more challenging.

Hello. I received a DUI in Waterbury VT in 1985. Was told it would dissapear from my record in 7 yrs. Not! Will have to hire a lawyer to get it stricken from my record. My advice to you. Do not apply for teaching jobs in countries that require criminal background checks

Depending on your country of origin...I assume USA...? You may be able to have a non violent offense, such as DUI expunged... This is a legal process and would require a monetary fee... Contact your local courts or police for info..

That's a good answer -- you've never been convicted of a crime or a traffic citation. You've never been convicted by a judge or jury. Since the FBI record says you were only charged with a traffic citation, this indicates that you paid a no contest fine, probably through the mail. Moreover, I'm not certain that most countries around the world have serious traffic police.
