A level English Literature Teacher – August 2021 (or earlier) Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree with a recognised post-graduate teaching qualification. Minimum experience: Five years teaching in a secondary school setting is required

Expatriate employees need to understand that living in Africa is not easy compared to that of the United Kingdom of Europe. In Kitwe roads are rough and need repair. There are electricity “outages“ and water cuts. However, for an expatriate, life can be very good. Socially, expatriates stick together and there is always something “on“. Domestic help is very reasonable. The Zambians, despite there being poverty in the country, are very friendly. The cost of groceries can be higher than in South Africa but fresh vegetables are very reasonable. There are well-stocked pharmacies and the main supermarket is a Shoprite store. Banks are plentiful and there are plenty of ATMs available.
Life is very secure and it is possible to walk around markets or the centre of town without any fear of being mugged. Crime is not prevalent but beggars can be a nuisance.
There are two main seasons, the rainy season (November to April) corresponding to summer, and the dry season (May/June to October/November), corresponding to winter. The dry season is subdivided into the cool dry season (May/June to August), and the hot dry season (September to October/November). The modifying influence of altitude gives the country pleasant subtropical weather rather than tropical conditions during the cool season of May to August. However, average monthly temperatures remain above 20 °C over most of the country for eight or more months of the year.
There is much to see in Zambia. From the Victoria Falls in the South to Lake Tanganyika in the north, the country has some relatively undiscovered tourist “gems“. Visits to other countries are easy and flights to South Africa very reasonable.
