We will TRY to rotate teachers on Saturdays, so that you can have a free one. We have a contract with a high school which is walking distance, you will have to teach some days there (only mornings , two classes). You will only speak English in class (teach English in English) so don’t worry if you don’t know any Spanish. Many teachers choose to learn some Spanish while they are here and we will help you practice if you are interested in learning. The Academy We have classes for students in-person and online. Classes are 1:1 or groups of up to 6 students. This unique class size means students have a lot of speaking time in class and teachers are able to give lots of feedback on speaking and pronunciation. Most students attend classes 3 times per week and we don’t give them homework (which means you don’t need to do any marking or paperwork)! All teachers teach all students and groups, so that students are exposed to different ways of learning and different accents. Being a small town, our classes are much more affordable for students who don’t earn as much as people living in larger cities. The homeroom teacher plays the most important role in the academic, social, and disciplinary guidance and follow up of students. For middle school teachers, teachers would teach different groups of students and are responsible for that particular area. You would have to work and maintain constant communication with the homeroom teachers to keep them updated with each kid´s progress. In any case, you are required to work as part of a team and interdisciplinary projects are encouraged.
