Our ACTIVE ENGLISH WEEKS teachers will teach at various partner institutions primarily throughout the Czech and Slovak Republics. Almost every week long program takes place in a different town so our teachers travel almost every weekend. Detailed Terms:
 Initial teaching contracts are 2 years, with 8 weeks annual paid holiday.
 Weekly working hours include lesson instruction, staff meetings, collaborative planning, parent consultations, lunch, breaks and/or recess supervision, and substitution as needed. Teachers without a full teaching load may be required to fill their schedules with additional tutorials, extra
courses, or other duties. we would like to offer you the opportunity to join the project Foreign Languages for Life – Stage 2 and become a teaching assistant at primary schools all over the Czech Republic (except Prague), beginning January or February, 2015.
More detailed information about the project is to be found in the leaflet attached.
Important information for native speakers:
- native speakers start their employment in January of February, 2015 (Stage 2 of the project). The type of contract is “agreement to perform work” and the employer is the National Institute for Further Education (NIDV) (part of the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports)
- within the contract, the maximum working time is 80 hours per month (or 40 hours per month) – the actual length of the month is not taken into account
- i.e. 20 hours per week, while ca. 15-17 hours are intended for direct teaching commitment, the rest is intended for lesson preparation, catch-up classes and other activities.
- beside the language lessons, native speakers will also participate in other subject classes (as part of the introduction of the CLIL method to Czech schools). There will be a CLIL method training course, the dates of the course will be spread in advance.
- gross hourly wage = 364,- CZK
- with 80 hours per month = ca. 29.000,- CZK (above-average monthly wage for a teacher in the Czech Republic)
- MINUS: health and social insurance, taxes
- net income ca. 20.000,- CZK per month
- if you do not have a health insurance company in the Czech Republic yet, you will be automatically enrolled with the VZP (General Health Insurance Company). The insurance applies from the date of signing the contract.
- the salary will be sent to your Czech bank account on the 15th day of the following month.

- first, please, send us the filled in YELLOW form + a scan of your passport + your CV
- then, the following documents must be handed in: criminal conviction statement, medical check-up confirmation (or a certificate of an existing insurance in the Czech Rep. and a bank account in the Czech Rep.)
- all the documents needed are listed above the YELLOW form
- in the form, please, state the date from which you can start working for us and the region you prefer (or whether you are flexible in this respect)
- allocation to individual schools is done in cooperation with regional coordinators (you will be handed in their contact information afterwards and they will take care of signing the contract with you as well)
- you will work at 1-3 schools and at each of them, you will have a person to help you (the introducing teacher)
- your main introducing teacher will help you fill in the electronic work statement at the end of each month
- your tutor will also be available in case of need (communication difficulties, information spreading etc.), you will be given his/her contact information
- in case of falling ill, you must contact the introducing teacher at the school in question at least on the day of the lesson (preferably the day before), and inform him/her that you will not be present in the lesson (please, contact the tutor as well)
