Details: School of Tomorrow is a private academy, which was established in September 1993. It
teaches boys and girls of ages 2 to 18, i.e from nursery to grade 12. The school currently
has more than 1500 students and 250 teachers.
We strive to raise standards in our school by working in harmony and with mutual respect
for
our clients and employees - in an effort to produce a better citizenry - who can compete,
win,
and achieve more in the 21st century. We believe that we can create better opportunities
by
trying our very best to push our students.
English and Amharic languages are used as the mediums of instruction. The students,
starting
from kindergarten, are taught to speak English.
Since its establishment the school has been gradually growing in size. The number of
students was only 200 in the year of its establishment and has now increased to more
than
1500 gradually. The quality of education and the services it provides has also been
improved
considerably through the years.
The school has been nominated by one of the local newspapers as the best private
school in
the country according to a recent survey.
School of Tomorrow has been able to gain high academic achievements continuously.
Our
students are top ranked in Ethiopia’s national examinations and are prime national
spelling
bee contenders.
Benefits:
- You will receive a relatively high monthly salary of ETH Birr 16,000.00 (net pay).
- Fully furnished accommodation.
- 30 days paid annual leave during the summer time provided the contract agreements
are
fulfilled.
- 1 round trip ticket between Ethiopia and the country of origin per completed year of
service
(half will be reimbursed upon arrival and the other half will be provided at the end of the
contract agreement).
- An initial 1-year contract, renewable every year on mutual agreement.
Job Requirements:
- Be a native English speaker from a country where English is the first & official language.
Such as, America, Britain, Canada, Scotland, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago, Ireland,
South
Africa, Australia, etc.
- Although all applicants are welcome to apply, we’re looking for teachers primarily from
the
African Diaspora.
- Possess a bachelor’s, master’s, or PhDin any field - preferably English.
- A love for African children and different cultures.
- Be adaptable to a fast moving and constantly evolving educational environment.
The Main Responsibilities:
- Teaching up to 28 contracted hours per week, plus covering additional classes if
required.
- Preparation of lesson plans.
- Assigning, marking and monitoring of homework, class work and tests.
- Preparation, administration and marking of placement, progress and achievement tests.
- Assessment and reporting of student performance.
- Development of supplementary materials and teaching aids for core syllabi or for
special
courses (People have additional skills in debate, arts, or music etc., are welcomed to
apply.)
- Attending staff meetings and/ or workshops arranged by senior staff.
- Assisting with the proctoring of examinations.
- Helping students attain certain academic and behavior standards.
- Playing a full and active part in the life of the school.
