ABOUT THE BC OFFSHORE SCHOOL: CIS – Astana is BC’s first not-for-profit Offshore School. CIS – Astana is an innovative, co-educational secondary day school. CIS – Astana is a preparatory school, initially offering grade 10. As our initial cohort moves on to grade 11, we will add a second cohort of grade 10 students for the 2023-24 academic year. The purpose of the school is to provide students, from Kazakhstan and throughout the region, an opportunity to earn a Dogwood Diploma and continue their studies at a Canadian university.
CIS – Astana has growth plan of reaching 900 students (pre-K to 12) in the coming years. All of the students accepted for the 2023-2024 academic year will be eligible for partial and full-ride scholarships. CIS – Astana is developing a brand-new, purpose-built campus to welcome students for September 2025.
ABOUT THE NON-PROFIT FOUNDATION: The Ulytau Charitable Foundation was established in 2021. “Ulytau” in Kazakh means great mountain and is a region of historical significance in Kazakhstan. The foundation was established with broad goals to contribute to benefit education in Kazakhstan. The Ulytau Foundation will establish the first British Columbia Offshore School in Central Asia. The school is located in the capital city, Astana. Canadian International School – Astana opened its doors in September of 2022.
JOB DESCRIPTION: CIS – Astana is seeking a full-time enthusiastic and energetic teacher to join our expanding team.
Our teacher will work closely with the Principal of CIS – Astana to deliver BC curriculum in grades 10 and/or grade 11 in the following curricular areas:

o English Language Arts & Career Education

The successful candidate will be expected to manage their classrooms effectively, maintain good student discipline, support the standards and policies of the school and assist with the supervision of students as required or as additionally requested by the Principal. With the Principal and other teachers, he/she will be expected to organize events, clubs and other activities for the students.
The successful candidate will be a positive role model and always demonstrate high moral standards for students, conduct himself/herself appropriately both professionally and personally at the school and within the community, as fitting for a teacher at an academic-oriented, BC Offshore School. Finally, the position may include physical duties and responsibilities and so the successful candidate must be able to perform these tasks - more details can be provided during the interview process.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education from a recognized Canadian university
• BC teaching certification, or eligibility for BC teaching certification
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of other cultures and the ability to communicate in a cross-cultural working environment. This includes communications with students, parents, teachers and the public.
• Holds a considerable level of computer skills including the use of the Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint), communications programs such as Windows Live and Skype and social media tools such as Twitter, Facebook, etc. As well as the ability to learn software programs that may be used at the school.
• Proficiency with PowerSchool or a similar integrated student information system/database preferred.
• Ability to build and maintain positive, cooperative, and service-oriented relationships within the school community and broader community.
• Canadian Permanent Residence or Citizenship
Compensation commensurate with experience. Salary scale competitive with BC public school districts in BC’s Lower Mainland. Beijing Royal School (BRS) is affiliated with Beijing Fazheng International Education, which serves as the umbrella company for Chengdu Royal School, Dalian Royal School (also known as Jia Hui Education Group), Yuncheng Royal School, Sanya City College and other educational institutions.

Ⅲ. Job Description for HS A-Level Psychology Teacher
- Plan and teach lessons following A-level, AP or school-designed curricula that differentiate for individual student needs
- Use a wide range of technologies and creative teaching styles.
- Plan with colleagues to deliver effective team teaching when possible.
- Develop assessment tasks following the guidelines and use a wide range of formative assessment tools.
- Supervise extended essays.
- Attend regular curriculum planning and student progress meetings.
- Work closely with the Coordinator to develop concurrency of learning across the senior high.
- Demonstrate a genuine, active interest in on-going professional development, including through participation in professional learning groups in the school, and contribute to Professional Development Programme by sharing recent research or teaching experience.
- Keep up-to-date records of attendance, curriculum, assessment tasks and assessment data.
- Prepare student reports and references, and other reports as required.
- Keep parents informed about student progress.

Ⅲ. Job Description for HS Computer teacher
- Teach AP, A-Level, OSSD or other assigned computer courses.
- Other work as assigned by the Teaching and Research Group.

Ⅳ. Job Requirements
ⅰ. Bachelor’s degree or above, majoring in Education or the applied teaching position related.
ⅱ. Registered teaching credentials, PGCE, CELTA, or DELTA preferred.
ⅲ. More than two years teaching experience required.
ⅳ. High level of English proficiency required.
