Details: We are looking for a fun, enthusiastic, and creative teacher who is interested in living in a beautiful and historic European city for one school year minimum (mid August 2011 – July 2012). The full-time “English Language Learner (ELL) Support Teacher“ will divide time between acting as a teacher’s assistant with lower level students in classrooms as well as working with children in small group settings both in and out of class. The teacher will also coordinate individual education plans (IEPs) for varied level students. Because this is a new position, the successful candidate should be flexible and willing to take initiative. A TEFL certificate is required. Experience teaching children is mandatory. All applicants must be native speakers of English, and high preference is given to EU citizens. An adventurous spirit is helpful, but almost anyone can adapt to life in Prague: it is an easy and fun city to live in. No knowledge of Czech language is required.

Sunny Canadian School consists of three parts: an English kindergarten (ages 2-6), a bilingual first stage (grades 1-5), and a bilingual second stage (middle school) beginning in 2011-2012 (grade 6 only). In the bilingual elementary, approximately 50% of teaching is done in Czech and 50% in English. We are a private school located on the outskirts of Prague in the Czech Republic. We have a beautiful new school building, a large garden and playground, and a forest nearby. About 95% of our children come from Czech families, and the other 5% come from various nationalities and/or bilingual families. We have a specially developed bilingual elementary school curriculum, approved by the Czech Ministry of Education for over 5 years, which focuses on installing a joy of learning in all students. We believe that children learn best while having fun, so we follow an interactive, hands-on curriculum.
If you are new to the area:
Travel expenses to the Czech Republic are not paid by our school, but we will help you search for accomodation and get settled. We also have a consultant on hand to facilitate securing your work and residency visas.
Compensation:
*We provide a competitive salary compared to most schools in the area, which will allow you to live a comfortable everyday lifestyle as well as afford some traveling on your time off. The exact amount will depend on experience, education, etc.
*25-35 hours/week, only on weekdays, most days end by 4:00 p.m.
*Paid vacation bonus and health insurance once you have received your residence visa.

1. Bachelor's degree or above in education or related majors;
2. Native English speaker or English skills equivalent to native level;
3. At least three years teaching experience;
4. Teaching Certificate, PGCE,QTS or equivalent is preferred;
