Details: Victoria’s leading English language school is seeking a full-time Power Speaking instructor to join our dedicated group of professionals.
Established in 1999, Global Village Victoria is part of the world-renowned Global Village English Centres (GVEC) group. Located in downtown Victoria, the school has a current capacity of 250 full-time students. GV Victoria runs full-time General English classes at eight (8) levels, as well as specialized full-time classes in IELTS Exam Prep, Cambridge FCE & CAE, TOEFL, Business English and Power Speaking.
LANGUAGES CANADA ACCREDITATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Successful completion of university degree
- TESL certificate (with practicum) recognized by TESL Canada
- Previous teaching experience (in Canada or overseas)
- Clean police record check and ability to sign employee declaration re: junior students
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR POWER SPEAKING INSTRUCTORS:
- Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience
- Passion for public speaking, workshops and presentations
- Documented experience with integrating technology and social media into lessons and projects
- Ability to develop students’ skills in the area of public speaking (incl. correction of pronunciation and grammar errors, development of vocabularly and a focus on gestures and body language)
START DATE:
The next study block begins on Monday, July 30, however it would be highly desirable that the instructor joins us no later than Monday, July 23 for orientation and training.
HOURS/CONDITIONS:
The successful candidate will be required to instruct in a full-time capacity, from 8:45 am to 2:10 pm, Monday to Thursday, and 8:45 am to 12:20 pm on Fridays, with additional time for preparation and student assessment. The position requires an instructor to reside and work in Victoria, BC. A modest relocation allowance may be provided for a suitable out-of-town applicant who is offered this position.
The initial contract will include a three-month probationary period, leading to longer-term employment based on positive performance evaluation and school enrolment figures.

4. Give Lessons including planning and preparation as well as course development;
5. Conduct course assessment and student academic counseling.

1. Bachelor's degree or above in education or related majors;
2. Native English speaker or English skills equivalent to native level;
3. At least three years teaching experience;
4. Teaching Certificate, PGCE,QTS or equivalent is preferred;
5. Caring, suitable and safe to work with children.
Ⅴ. Compensation & Benefits
1. Monthly salary before tax: RMB 28,000 - 40,000 plus housing allowance
