Ⅲ. Job Description
1. Working Hours: Monday to Friday on a semester basis;
2. Teaching Hours: 22 teaching periods per week;
3. Average Class Size: 20-25;
4. Give Lessons including planning and preparation as well as course development;
5. Conduct course assessment and student academic counseling.
Ⅳ. Job Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree or above in education or related majors;
2. Native English speaker or English skills equivalent to native level;
3. At least three years teaching experience;
4. Teaching Certificate, PGCE,QTS or equivalent is preferred;
5. Caring, suitable and safe to work with children.

Volunteer English Language Instructors needed for Galapagos Academic Institute for
Arts and Sciences (GAIAS)
Position: Volunteer Instructor of English as a Foreign Language
Location: San Cristobal, Galapagos
Start Date: January 2, 2013 (but will need to register visa in Quito, Ecuador on December
17th, 2012 in order to avoid holiday closings) Contracts are for 6 months, due to strict
migration laws in Galapagos.
GAIAS is an extension campus of Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ), located
in Cumbaya, Quito, Ecuador. The campus has been operating for ten years on the island
of San Cristobal, providing English as a Foreign language classes to high school juniors
and seniors, traditional university students (completion of English program is a
graduation requirement), as well as adult community members. The university is a
registered private NGO in Ecuador. It offers an international working environment, with
faculty and staff from around the world. The university is currently in the process of being
a certified TESOL test taking center, the only center in the Galapagos province.
GAIAS is looking for motivated, energetic and flexible English teaching volunteers to be
part of the established program in San Cristobal, Galapagos. Volunteers teach two
classes each day, duration of two hours each class, for a total of 20 in-class hours
weekly. Teachers are also expected to have one hour per day of contact with students
via office hours and/or extra-curricular activities such as Food and Art clubs, Soccer
teams, conversation exchanges, etc. Please keep in mind that due to our remote
location, materials as well as basic services are limited. Successful teaching volunteers
are able to be creative and resourceful in the classroom.
Minimum Qualifications
-Native English speaker
-Bachelor´s degree
-TEFL or TESOL certificate
-A least six months of prior teaching experience, ideally in a university setting.
