Details: Opportunity for High School Teachers in Nanjing, China
The Australian International School – Nanjing was established in 2014 by the Western
Australian Education Group (WAEG), an Australian owned and operated company.
WAEG is licensed by the Tertiary Institutions Service Center (TISC) to deliver the
Western Australian Universities’ Foundation Program (WAUFP) to students in Nanjing.
The WAUFP is built on the ATAR curriculum, modified to suit the needs of overseas
students wishing to gain entry to Australian universities, especially universities located in
WA. The only significant curriculum difference to the ATAR is that the “English as an
Additional Language or Dialect” (EALD) subject incorporates a study of Australian culture
and is renamed as English Language and Australian Cultural Studies (ELACS) and is
given a double weighting for University entry. More detail can be found on the TISC

Students are required to have reasonable proficiency in English in order to enrol into
Year 10. They undertake at least 6 months of intensive English before progressing to
Year 11 and then Year 12. All lessons in every year group are delivered in English.
To accommodate a growth in student enrolments, WAEG is seeking to employ
experienced high school teachers to commence teaching in Nanjing in November 2017
and August 2018. The subjects include English ESL (Year 10), EALD (Year 11), ELACS
(Year 12), Accounting and Finance, Business Management and Enterprise, Mathematics
(at all levels), Physics and Chemistry.
The immediate positions are Mathematics, Business Management, Accounting and
Finance. Candidates are to start in November. Candidates who can teach both Business
Management and Accounting have the advantage.
Applicants who hold degree qualifications and have a minimum of 2 years teaching
experience in WA high schools are preferred, but fresh graduates are also encouraged to
apply.
Successful applicants will be supported to apply for their visa and will have access to
staff to assist establishment in Nanjing. There is potential for career advancement,
especially for staff who commit for the longer term.
For those unfamiliar with Nanjing, it is a clean, beautiful, multicultural, modern and
historic city that is very well served by public transport and has a very proud academic
tradition.
Applicants are required to teach 22 hours per week to attract the following remuneration
package - a package that is very competitive compared to other international programs in
China and very attractive in light of the very low living costs:
 After tax salaries of RMB13,000 – 25,000 per month
 Accommodation allowance of RMB2500 per month
 Medical insurance
 7 weeks paid holidays per annum
 Return flight after each year of employment

Senior High School (Grade 10-12)

- PYP Homeroom Teacher(UOI & ESL)

Ⅲ. Job Description
1. Working Hours: Monday to Friday on a semester basis;
2. Teaching Hours: 22 teaching periods per week;
3. Average Class Size: 20-25;
4. Give Lessons including planning and preparation as well as course development;
5. Conduct course assessment and student academic counseling.

Ⅳ. Job Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree or above in education or related majors;
2. Native English speaker or English skills equivalent to native level;
3. At least three years teaching experience;
4. Teaching Certificate, PGCE,QTS or equivalent is preferred;
5. Caring, suitable and safe to work with children.

1. Monthly salary before tax: RMB 28,000 - 40,000 plus housing allowance
