Details: Sunsar Maya is a non-profit dedicated to providing educational support to orphaned,
abandoned, and disadvantaged children around the world. We currently operate in
Nepal.
We are seeking a head teacher/manager to oversee our after-school program in
Kathmandu. The ASP is the first of its kind in Nepal, offering a caring and safe
environment for orphaned and disadvantaged children, ages 4-12. Our program
combines Waldorf, Reggio, and Montessori principals in a holistic, hands-on curriculum.
The right candidate should be warm, friendly, and have experience working with children,
but does not need to have strict teaching experience. A 2-3 week training in the San
Francisco Bay Area prior will be required prior to beginning work.The candidate must be
willing to relocate and commit to a minimum one-year contract in Nepal.
Tasks:
Oversee day-to-day operations and management of the after-school program
Create lesson plans and program schedule based on established curriculum
Co-teach daily classes
Provide regular training sessions for staff
Create monthly and year-end reports
Regular communication with US director via email and skype regarding curriculum,
management, children behavior, etc.
Assist in the creation of, and training for, a second after-school program
Requirements:
Experience in teaching or child psychology is not required but is preferred
Fluency in Nepali is not mandatory as our teachers speak English, but is a plus
Strong administrative and management skills
Evaluation and reporting skills
Must be willing to commit to a minimum of one-year, longer is preferred
The head teacher/manager is an integral part of our organization and will have the

working with children with special needs and disadvantaged populations. Please note
that this is a Nepal-based position and salary will be commensurate with local wages. We

1. Working Hours: Monday to Friday on a semester basis;
2. Teaching Hours: 22 teaching periods per week;
3. Average Class Size: 20-25;
4. Give Lessons including planning and preparation as well as course development;
5. Conduct course assessment and student academic counseling.
Ⅳ. Job Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree or above in education or related majors;
2. Native English speaker or English skills equivalent to native level;
3. At least three years teaching experience;
4. Teaching Certificate, PGCE,QTS or equivalent is preferred;
5. Caring, suitable and safe to work with children.
Ⅴ. Compensation & Benefits
1. Monthly salary before tax: RMB 28,000 - 40,000 plus housing allowance
