Job description:
We’re looking for a teacher to lead the second international Montessori class at our kindergarten.
Your responsibilities as the homeroom teacher include everything from teaching English, helping
the students with their daily work and daily chores, to providing feedback for both the parents and
staff. The desired candidate will lead the children through the day. From circle time, through their
sensory, math, life, language, and science classes. English class will also be taught by the
candidate. The goal of the class is to give the children a full English environment. The day begins
at 7:30 and ends at 5:30. There is a two hour break while the students nap in the afternoon. The
candidate will be fully trained in the Montessori teaching method by our staff at the kindergarten,
and the Hong Kong based Montessori franchise. While Montessori experience is a benefit, its not
a requirement. The ideal candidate should be willing to learn the material, and be willing to grow
as both a teacher and individual.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or above. Native English speaker from America, Canada, England, Australia,
South Africa or New Zealand.

The city:

We’re located in the NE of China, about a 30 minute train ride from the provincial capital Harbin.
Daqing is a massive oil field, and because of the oil, the people in Daqing tend to have a higher
and better standard of living than other cities in the NE. The summers are warm and wet, while the
winters are cold. Daqing is known for having hundreds of lakes scattered about. We also have a
huge wetland area called the “Longfeng wetlands.” The endangered migratory red crown crane
passes through the wetlands of Qiqihar and Daqing. Daqing also has many thermal hot springs. If
you want to google anything interesting about the area, try “Harbin ice festival,” “zhalong nature
reserve,” “Songhua river,” “Daqing hot springs,”

Daqing is much less crowded than other big cities in China. So if you’re not interested in being
pushed and shoved while walking down the street, this is a plus. The city has a great public
transportation system, and taxis are cheap and everywhere. Minimum fare is only 5 RMB for a taxi
ride. We have huge shopping centers, and most supermarkets have an import section where we
can buy foreign foods and other ingredients. As for entertainment, Daqing has everything from
Imax theaters, parks, lakes, a river, shopping, hot springs, and a lot more. The city has two new
high-speed train stations that have trains that go all over the country. In addition to the trains, we
also have an airport. Harbin is a quick 30-minute train ride away, and that city has a huge western
influence. From restaurants to shopping. As for restaurants in Daqing, we have a variety of
Chinese restaurants, western restaurants, and other Asian cuisines. Cost of living in this city is
much cheaper than other big cities. You can easily save most of your salary for traveling since an
apartment, utilities, and meals are provided by the school.
