Head of Mathematics/Science teacher

(United Kingdom, Coventry)

Details: Reporting To: The Principal
The Head of Maths is responsible for:
1. Teaching Mathematics across all programmes in the College
2. Leading and managing the Maths Department and contributing to the academic team.
3. Supporting the mission and values of the College
The key responsibilities of the Head of Mathematics are:
Teaching and Learning
• Develop and teach the mathematics curriculum across the college (Pre -A, A level Maths, Further Maths, STEP etc)
• Timetable individual and small group support for students and maths teachers
• Line manage all teaching staff within the maths department and carry out lesson observations, work scrutiny and learning walks together with the Leadership Team
• Lead and minute departmental meetings
• Attend and contribute to Leadership meetings
• Manage the departmental resources
• Assist in the planning and delivery of the Summer School Programme
• Assess and monitor students’ progress in Maths
• Maintain accurate and timely data on student progress and outcomes
• Contribute the College SEF and QIP
• Establish and implement a strategic department development plan which is regularly monitored and evaluated to inform future planning
• Ensure that members of the Department complete all interim, half term and end-of-term reports in a professional and timely manner
• Enter students for academic competitions throughout the year (Euclid, Olympiads, UK Challenge etc)
• Develop links with universities and industry experts to promote research and learning in mathematics for students
• Proof‐read personal statements
• Provide interview training and mock interviews to students
• Write and mark Maths entrance tests in accordance with the College’s requirement
Qualifications and Experience
• Good honours degree (2:1 or above) from a leading university
• QTS (PGCE or equivalent)
• 6 years teaching experience including at least 4 teaching A level Maths and Further Maths
• Experience of leading a team and/or curriculum initiative

Ⅱ. Positions Available
Senior High School (Grade 10-12)
- AP/A-level Biology Teacher

Primary School (Grade 1-5)
- PYP Homeroom Teacher(UOI & ESL)

Ⅲ. Job Description
1. Working Hours: Monday to Friday on a semester basis;
2. Teaching Hours: 22 teaching periods per week;
3. Average Class Size: 20-25;
4. Give Lessons including planning and preparation as well as course development;
5. Conduct course assessment and student academic counseling.

Ⅳ. Job Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree or above in education or related majors;
2. Native English speaker or English skills equivalent to native level;
3. At least three years teaching experience;
4. Teaching Certificate, PGCE,QTS or equivalent is preferred;
5. Caring, suitable and safe to work with children.

Ⅴ. Compensation & Benefits
1. Monthly salary before tax: RMB 28,000 - 40,000 plus housing allowance
