Ⅲ. Job Description
1. Working Hours: Monday to Friday on a semester basis;
2. Teaching Hours: 22 teaching periods per week;
3. Average Class Size: 20-25;
4. Give Lessons including planning and preparation as well as course development;
5. Conduct course assessment and student academic counseling.
Ⅳ. Job Requirements
1. Bachelor's degree or above in education or related majors;
2. Native English speaker or English skills equivalent to native level;
3. At least three years teaching experience;
4. Teaching Certificate, PGCE,QTS or equivalent is preferred;
5. Caring, suitable and safe to work with children.
Ⅴ. Compensation & Benefits
1. Monthly salary before tax: RMB 28,000 - 40,000 plus housing allowance
2. Paid winter and summer vacations

Banjul American International School (BAIS) is the smallest school in the smallest country in Africa, only 50-60 students Pre-K to Grade 12. But we have the biggest heart! We have a long history of meeting the individual learning needs of all students and preparing them for success wherever they go after their time at BAIS.
We wish to hire staff who already have experience and high standards for what they bring their students. Send your CV I am interested in learning more about you and whether you might enjoy living in West Africa and working with BAIS.
Our school is a not for profit, US accredited and embassy associated international school offering an American standards-based curriculum to a diverse student population from embassies, the UN, the African Union, the Medical Research Centre of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and global and local business families. We are a very caring and positive school community of around 40 families. Total school enrollment Pre-K through Grade 12 was just over 60 students last year and we expect 50 plus this year. Most classes have 6 to 12 students in two grade levels (e.g. K-1, G2-3, G4-5 etc). When classes reach 12 students we provide a full-time assistant. When they surpass 16, we move to split them where feasible. I am seeking an elementary teacher for either K1 or for G2-3; both classes are expected to have around 10 or 11 students. I seek someone who is ready to embrace the Science of reading as delivered by EL Education ELA curriculum and conceptual math understanding as organized by Eureka Math of Great Minds publishing. For strong teachers, these materials will make sense even if they are new to you and you will enjoy the autonomy granted in designing units of study which make learning unforgettable for your students.

The Gambia is a poor, developing African country, while also being a tourist destination famed for its beaches and for its warm, welcoming and English-speaking citizens. In fact, many Europeans and a few Americans choose to retire here, even though they have to adjust to power cuts and a slower tempo of life. I seek teachers who are happy with a simple life and who can deliver strong foundational skills to BAIS students.
